Willie Payton Williams was the owner of Buddy’s Liquors on E. 79th Street in Chicago for 40 years. He was a mentor and role model in his community and was involved in his church and civic organizations such as the Central City Scholarship Foundation and local business and trade associations. Buddy was born in Mississippi in 1942 and died at the age of 75.

Buddy Williams Lane was the first honorary sign approved in Chicago in 2019.
