Robert Borgstrom Way

Linda Zabors

Robert Borgstrom was the president of the family owned Wendella boat company which offers private charters, public tours, and water taxi service on the Chicago River.

The Wendella docks have been located along side the Wrigley Building since 1938.  His son, Michael Borgstrom is the third generation and the current president of the company.

Wendella began providing a commuter River Bus service to and from Michigan Avenue and the Northwest Train Station in 1962.  Wendella provided the first history and architecture tours of Chicago by boat on the Chicago River.

The company was started in 1935 by Robert's father Albert Borgstrom, who had emigrated from Sweden to Chicago. The fourth generation of the Borgstrom family now works at Wendella Boats.

Wendella Boats celebrated 80 years in 2015.
